Repeat It continues Struan Hopwood's exploration of identity through a visual language that brings together portraiture, illustration, street art, comics, fashion and popular culture. While the painting appears to be built from torn paper and layered collage, every element has been meticulously painted by hand. The illusion of ripped surfaces reveals fragments of different visual worlds, suggesting that identity is never singular but formed through layers of experience, memory and culture.
 
Bold graphic characters, hand-drawn sketches and highly rendered realism exist side by side without hierarchy. By allowing these contrasting visual languages to coexist, Hopwood blurs the boundaries between fine art and contemporary visual culture, inviting viewers to consider how repetition, nostalgia and everyday imagery leave lasting impressions long after we've stopped noticing them.
