Sometimes, the right artwork doesn’t need to be imagined — it already exists.
If an available piece speaks to you, excites you, or stops you in your tracks, that connection can’t be planned or recreated. It either happens or it doesn’t, and that’s the beauty of finding a painting that feels like yours. In those moments, we always encourage you to trust that instinct and choose the work that speaks to you.
If you’d like to enquire about an existing artwork, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page. If you’re interested in commissioning a custom piece, please read on.
Custom Commissions
Yes, we do create a small selection of custom commissions each year, and we would love to discuss your ideas and bring them to life. Below is an overview of our commission process.
1. Initial Consultation
Once you reach out, we’ll arrange a time to discuss your vision — whether in person at the gallery, over the phone, or via FaceTime. This conversation helps us understand your ideas, preferences, and the direction of the work. We’ll talk through elements such as colour palette, pose, character references, overall mood, and framing. We’ll also guide you through frame styles and finishes to ensure the final artwork feels cohesive and ready to hang.
2. Quote
After our discussion, we’ll provide a quote along with an estimated timeline for completion. To confirm your commission, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required. This secures your place and covers materials and time invested in the work.
3. Creation Process
Once confirmed, we begin creating your piece. This stage is guided by our experience, intuition, and collaborative process, allowing the artwork to develop naturally.
4. Progress & Reveal
We do not send progress photos during the creation of commissioned works. While anticipation is part of the process, sharing unfinished images is a bit like showing cake batter before it’s baked — it doesn’t reflect the final result. We ask you to trust our process and experience as professional artists.
When the artwork is nearing completion, we’ll be in touch to arrange the reveal. You can choose to:
-
View the finished piece in person at the gallery, or
-
Receive digital images of the completed work (keeping in mind that photographs can never fully capture texture, depth, or true colour).
5. Final Payment, Collection or Delivery
Following the reveal, the remaining balance is due. Once final payment is received, the artwork can be collected in person or shipped, depending on your preference and the details outlined in your quote.
Please Note
-
Commissioned artworks are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
-
Unless requested otherwise, we may share images of your commissioned piece across our website or social media.
And finally, a reminder — commissions are a beautiful way to create something personal, but they are not always necessary. If an existing artwork already sparks excitement, emotion, or a sense of recognition, that feeling can’t be designed or forced. It simply exists — and that connection is often the most meaningful starting point of all.
