This collaborative work brings together Struan and Emma’s distinctly different visual languages, layering portraiture, graphic imagery, nostalgia and painterly mark-making into a single composition.
 
Torn edges cut across the canvas, giving the illusion of posters and fragments peeled back to reveal what sits beneath. Familiar imagery appears in unexpected places, creating a work that feels almost like a collection of memories, references and visual noise gathered over time.
 
Struan’s precise portraiture and bold graphic elements sit against Emma’s looser brushwork, drips and layered surfaces. While the work appears collaged, every element is painted entirely by hand.
 
There’s no single narrative to follow. Instead, the work plays with recognition. Things feel familiar without necessarily belonging together, allowing each viewer to make their own connections between the different layers.
